How far along? 23 Weeks

Maternity clothes? Starting to get bored with what I have...oh boy. Looks like I am going to have to get creative :D
Best moment this week: It has been a quiet week, which is nice. We did get the flooring in the nursery with the help Martine and Josh! Thankful for the fabulous family we have! Always willing to help!
Miss anything? Burpees...I know I know...weird.
Movement: Yep...he likes to wiggle around all morning :D
Food cravings: Nope
Anything making you queasy or sick: Nightly acid reflux :(  Always happens when I have been sleeping for about an hour or two. Thankfully, a handful of raw almonds seems to put it to rest.

Symptoms: Acid reflux is the most terrible thing...ever.

22 Weeks

How far along? 22 Weeks
Maternity clothes? Stuff I bought initially is starting to get tight...wow that sucks lol. I thought it was supposed to stretch with me as I grow!
Best moment this week: Sitting and watching TV Baby V was kicking pretty consistently. I figured Nate wouldn't be able to feel it but I told him to try anyway. We waited a minute or two and Nate got to feel the best kick I have felt yet. It actually felt more like a flip or roll! It was a wonderful moment.
Miss anything? A full night of sleep
Movement: Yep :) Getting stronger
Food cravings: Still no cravings
Anything making you queasy or sick: Anything sugary. Can't drink a full smoothie yet either.
Labor signs: Nope
Symptoms: Acid reflux is the most terrible thing...ever.

Family Vacation to Helen, GA

We finally got to experience winter and though I was sick, it was a great time. We traveled up to a cabin in Helen, Georgia and it was FREEZING! Pearl came with us and she enjoyed the trip too!

It was a great trip but it really made me appreciate home at the same time. I missed my routine and my bed and most of all, I actually missed the warm weather. After the long drive home, we were pooped, but no one was more pooped than Pearl! I started to wonder where she was while I was cooking dinner, usually in between my feet, and I found her...passed out cold...
 What a cutie!

After that, like a whirlwind, it was already New Years Eve. Every year we spend NYE with our besties, Shawn and Yadi, burning Christmas trees, toasting by a fire (even when it's 80 degrees outside), and setting off fireworks in Shawn's mom's backyard. It's always a great time and we toast to a new year at midnight. This year, my champagne glass was full of water and I realized that this is the year I will become a Mommy. How wonderful! Everything is going to change and I am more than excited about that! Next NYE, I hope to still be continuing our tradition and including Baby V for his first!

Cheers to 2014!

I also made yummy spinach and artichoke dip that was dairy free (made with a cashew cream) and delicious honey soaked chicken and pineapple kebabs. Shawn cooked them up on the grill and they turned out moist and delicious!

Other than that...here's another belly shot! Walking is the new running...or so they say ;)

Cheers!

Merry Christmas everyone!!! This week was great!

First we went on vacation to celebrate two of our best friends earning their masters degrees! What an accomplishment! We are so proud of them! We went to Fort Lauderdale for dinner and then the next morning we all booked it down to Key West. We had an awesome time and I was the perfect DD for the night! All of my friends really care about me and I got to see it this weekend..especially after a visit to Fat Tuesdays ;)

Best moments of vacation-
Dark chocolate covered strawberries
The guys' pushup game...MINE
Sunset at Mallory Square
and much much more!

In other news-
We are making progress on the nursery :D

The crib came in and Nate put it together (with a little help from Pearl)

And lastly, we celebrated Christmas. Our last Christmas with a "silent night". Next year will be a whole new world and I can't wait!!!

Best moment this week: Seeing Baby V at my ultrasound!
Miss anything? Competing in mud runs at my full potential
Movement: At the ultrasound he was moving a whole lot. The doctor couldn't believe I wasn't feeling him. We watched him kick in real time and I said out loud... "OH! That's what it feels like!" Not what I expected ;) So..yes...I have been feeling him!
Food cravings: Nope
Anything making you queasy or sick: Sweet things...especially fruit.
Labor signs: Nope
Symptoms: Growth

This week was our ultrasound with the doctor! It was super special to see Baby V. He is definitely a boy and he likes to move! He has lots of padding around him so I don't feel him super strong yet...but the doctor said in the next month he is going to double in size...wow!

Here is Baby V on his side with his face facing front. It was so neat to see his eyes and lips and little chin. Just chillin on his arm!

Baby V waved at us! Look at those perfect fingers!

This week we also did the Badass Bash.

We signed up for it a year ago and had no idea I would be pregnant now (we had hoped...but you know how that goes.) Anyways, so we decided to do it any way and I promised to take it easy. I am normally a very competitive person and for me it was very VERY hard to not push and it was also hard for me to not get upset at myself for what I couldn't, or shouldn't, do. I decided to skip any obstacles that involved heights because of my past experience falling and fracturing my spine. I did do a couple that involved climbing, but instead of climbing all the way up, I just did as much as I felt comfortable and then got down. Many people told me I was an inspiration, running in the even preggo, but I have to say I really learned my lesson.

The course was tough and the terrain was nasty. I got a lot of cuts, tripped over a lot of roots and ruts (resulting in falls), and trekking through all of the mud was more work that I realized. Later in the day, when I got home, I pretty much could not walk. I had lots of pain in my lower half and moving my legs caused tears. I was very upset with myself for being so stubborn but I think it definitely taught me a lesson.

I need to be more caring and accepting towards my body, pregnant or not.

That's That!
